According to Titan Sports, Jiangsu is considering cutting center Dan Gadzuric and replacing him with Jackson Vroman.

During the fourth quarter in Wednesdays 104-99 loss at Zhejiang Chouzhou, Gadzuric was forced to leave the court after sustaining a toe injury. After the game, the Jiangsu team doctor declared it a minor injury. But on Thursday morning, the team switched its stance up when general manager, Wang Min, told reporters that an x-ray had revealed that Gadzuric’s toe is fractured.

Concerned over the severity of the injury, Gadzuric has since flown to Beijing to see a foot specialist.

There is no timetable for Gadzuric’s return. According to NetEase Sports, it doesn’t appear he’ll ever have one. Because of all the questions surrounding the severity and the shelf life of his injury, Gadzuric probably will not return to the team this season.

But, Jiangsu’s unwillingness to wait on Gadzuric looks to be based on more than just a fractured toe. According to a NiuBBall.com source, Jiangsu has been looking at different options to replace Gadzuric for over a week. Sitting in last place at 2-6, Jiangsu, who is a perennial top-level team, is desperately trying to turn their season around before its too late. Last week, the team made its first big change of the year by switching out Mardy Collins for Marcus Williams. As this news indicates, however, Jiangsu is far from done in shaking up their roster.

In eight games, Gadzuric is averaging 20.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 2 blocks.

If Jiangsu does end up signing Vroman, they’ll be adding a versatile player with an established CBA resume. In his first season in China last year, Vroman lead an out-of-nowhere revival in DongGuan that saw the Leopards finish third in the standings with a 27-5 record. In 27 games, the All-NiuBBall.com First Team center averaged 22.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.6 blocks, 2.8 steals on 55.6% from the field.
