Zhejiang Guangsha replaces Dwyane Jones with Peter John Ramos

According to the Today Morning Post (今日早报) in Hangzhou, the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions have chosen to replace Dwyane Jones with Peter John Ramos.
Ramos is a familiar face in Hangzhou as he spent the last two seasons playing for the Lions. Last year, the 7’3 Puerto Rican averaged 24.8 points, 13.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks on 64% shooting.
Ramos, like a few foreign players who played in China last year (Jackson Vroman, Rodney White), signed to play in Korea this season. But unsatisfied with his scoring output, his KBL team, the Seoul Samsung Thunder, cut him just a few weeks in.
Jones’ release ends a short four game marriage with Guangsha. Jones, who’s league leading 15.8 rebounds per game last year for Fujian SBS was highlighted by two 30 point 30 rebound games, was brought in by head coach Jim Cleamons to act as a rugged defensive player who would be fine with Wilson Chandler dominating the ball on offense. But Jones wasn’t able to match the 18 pgg scoring output he put up last year, averaging a meager eight points through four games.
Jones and Ramos will both travel with the team to Shanghai for the Lions’ away game against the Sharks on Wednesday. Jones’ trip is an insurance policy in case there is a problem with Ramos’ registration papers.
