- Former Blazers assistant and Los Angeles D-Fenders head coach, Dan Panaggio, is the new head coach of the Shanghai Sharks. In addition to having NBA experience, Panaggio has also spent time as an assistant in the college ranks with Indiana and Marquette. Last season, he was a scout with the Phoenix Suns last year.

Sure, the shorter season and the three game-a-week schedule is appealing to a player who says he “just wanted to play,” but we think the presence of longtime NBA assistant, Jim Cleamons, has more to do with it than anything. Not having to worry about the on-court stuff between coach and player is one less thing to adapt to.
- The week-long October 1st National Day holiday period is going to be even sweeter than usual for sneaker-obsessed Chinese hoopsters. As a thank you to their Chinese fans, Nike will unveil a China Exclusive Edition of its Nike Zoom Air LeBron 9, called the “Fire Lion Edition.” The shoes will be available for purchase only in China starting on October 1st. Just make sure you hit up the bank before you get to the store — the shoes cost ¥1599 RMB, or roughly $250 US.
