Three time defending champ, Guangdong, has just bolstered their title defense with the acquisition of 2004 NBA Slam Dunk champion, Fred Jones, according to Tencent.
A seven year NBA veteran, Jones was selected with the 14th overall pick out of Oregon in 2002 by the Indiana Pacers. After spending four years as a Pacer playing predominantly off the bench, Jones played for the Raptors, Blazers, Knicks and Clippers from 2006 to 2009. His NBA career totals 430 games played with averages of 7.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Jones played last year in Italy playing for Pallacanestro Biella.
Jones will join up in Guangdong with former Pacer teammate, center David Harrison, who was signed by the team last month. He is replacing Smush Parker in the Southern Tigers’ backcourt, who left the team to play in Russia.
